Finally a pick that I like for the Sonics. The Sonics acquired D.J. White from the Pistons for the rights to 2nd round picks Walter Sharp and center Trent Plaisted. The 6′9″, 251 pound power forward D.J. White had a really good career at Indiana and he will likely push for playing time as a rookie for Seattle. White played in 99 games (97 starts) in his career and Indiana and he averaged 14.6 points, 7.6 rebounds, 0.9 assists and 2.0 blocked shots per game. White also shot 56.2% from the floor in his career at Indiana as a lot of his shots come from close range. This was a good move for the Sonics as White will likely help the Sonics as much, if not more, than their other two picks in this draft.

1. (24) Serge Ibaka, F

19-year old Serge Ibaka will likely be playing in Spain until the 2010-11 season which means this pick is a huge risk for the Sonics. He is a big guy at 6′10″, 220 pounds and he’s only 19 years old so he has potential. He played in 30 games (0 starts) in the pros in Europe and he averaged 11.5 points, 8.3 rebounds, 0.3 assists and 2.9 blocked shots per game. He also has nailed 54.2% of his shots from the floor which is pretty impressive. Still, the Sonics needed to draft a player that could help them right now.

1. (4) Russell Westbrook, PG

The Seattle Supersonics might have reached a little bit in the first round to take point guard Russell Westbrook out of UCLA. Westbrook is only 19 years old and he wasn’t super productive in his college career. Westbrook has played in 75 games (35 starts) in his career at UCLA and he averaged 8.3 points, 2.4 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 1.0 steal per game. Westbrook will likely be the starting point guard as a rookie because the Sonics have had trouble at that position for quite a while now.
